Valentine's Day was that much sweeter spent with all of the Vermont Medical Society members and residents who participated in the VMS Advocacy Day 2019 last week! We started out our snowy day with an interactive breakfast panel in a packed room in the Statehouse. Dr. Kat McGraw, Dr. Steve Leffler, Dr. Mark McGee and Dr. Jill Rinehart started the discussion with Chairs from the Health Care, Human Services and Appropriations Committees. We heard from several lawmakers that they thoroughly enjoyed the panel and that the discussion was very meaningful. This is a testament to the great work you do and lawmakers wanting to learn more about it. Thank you! It was excellent to have your voice and expertise in the building! We also heard from many members that Carol Kelly’s media advocacy training was extremely helpful in framing our message and some of our members even used it to testify in front of legislative committees and for interviews during the afternoon. We appreciate all of you bringing your voice to the Statehouse to advocate for your profession, for state health care improvements and most importantly for your patients. Please let Jill, email@example.com, know how the day went and how we can improve it.
