VMS Priority Planning Session July 14th

Please join the VMS Council on Saturday, July 14, at Simon Pearce Restaurant in Quechee, VT, members will engage in priority planning from 9 AM until noon in order to prepare for the 2018 VMS Annual Meeting. From noon until 4:00 PM, we will offer our next VMS Education and Research Foundation Leadership Training Program entitled “Effective Meetings, Leadership Skills and Communication.”

In the training, Effective Meetings, Leadership Skills, and Communication, presenter Allison Linney, MBA will focus on conducting meetings.

Conducting a meeting is generally the first thing colleagues see you do.   If you can’t run a meeting well, your strength as a leader is questioned.  Physician leaders must learn how to control those who talk too much and get information from those who talk too little.  This course will provide the ability to determine what topics should be discussed in and outside of the meeting.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn the communication style of others in order to influence them
  • Decide what kinds of meetings to have and when
  • Use a technique that identifies problems and solutions
  • Remain calm and professional in emotionally charged situations
  • Give effective feedback

Lunch will be served during the afternoon program. This opportunity is FREE for VMS Council members, residents and medical students and only $100 for others. CME credit will be awarded for completion of the program. For a detailed course description and to register, please click here.
