VMS Resolutions

VMS Resolutions

VMS resolutions are catalysts for the organization’s legislative efforts. Each year, VMS members propose and approve resolutions that guide VMS staff and leadership in their advocacy and public policy efforts.

    Adoption Process

Resolutions are intended to express composite positions of the VMS and suggest a significant course of action to be taken by the Society. VMS members are welcome to submit resolution ideas using this form or contact jbarnard@vtmd.org for further assistance. Here's what a typical resolution adoption looks like once a member submits a resolution idea:

    • VMS staff will review and may assist with further drafting or clarification.
    • Staff distribute the resolution proposal for comment and a non-binding survey to all members.
    • At a Board meeting, the VMS Board will review the proposal and member feedback. Typically, the author(s) will be invited to present the proposed resolution, and VMS members will be invited to attend the meeting to discuss. All resolutions require a majority vote of the Board to be adopted, amended, or rejected.
