2024 Collaborative Meeting
The 211th VMS Annual Meeting was held on November 1st and 2nd in person with virtual options. The weekend was filled with educational content, time spent with colleagues, policy-setting meetings, and the opportunity to honor physicians and other health care leaders across the state. VMS’ Annual Meeting, hosted in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics Vermont Chapter, the Vermont Academy of Family Physicians and the Vermont Psychiatric Association, was a celebration of the unwavering commitment Vermont clinicians have to their practice and to the deep connection VMS members have with each other.

Every year, VMS asks our members to nominate Vermont leaders who have provided outstanding contributions to the medical profession, to health organizations and to the welfare of the public. VMS is proud to announce this year's 2024 Leadership Award Recipients, who have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the health of their patients and all Vermonters.
The recipients are:
Distinguished Service Award - LE Faricy, MD
"Dr. Faricy has demonstrated a stalwart commitment to the public health of her patients, students and all Vermonters, as well as a deep empathy and belief that policies should protect youth and families."
Physician Award for Community Service - Andrea Green, MD
"Dr. Green is at the forefront of the effort to apply a Child’s Rights framework to pediatric policy. At a time when immigrant families face discrimination and inequity throughout the country, when national political leaders vilify New Americans, her extraordinary efforts to improve the care these families receive and change the national conversation is crucial and necessary."
Physician of the Year Award - Katie Marvin, MD
"Dr. Marvin has been a model physician – serving not only as a clinician, but also a mentor, teacher and advocate. She has moved mountains both in primary care, addiction and legislation within our state."
Founders' Award - Jessica McNally, MD
"Dr. McNally has been a tireless advocate for the safety of patients. With a year after year effort to expand surgery to unqualified professionals, risking the eyesight of Vermonters, she has advanced the importance of education and training in providing appropriate medical care – mentoring medical students in advocacy and leading grassroots efforts with all ophthalmologists in the state."
Citizen of the Year Award - Representative Alyssa Black
"Representative Alyssa Black has been a tireless and effective advocate in the legislative arena and has demonstrated an ability to act on behalf of both physicians in Vermont, as well as the patients they treat. From her advocacy for firearm safety to her work on the beginnings of a long overdue response to the seemingly endless insurance industry intrusions into the practice of primary care."
Citizen of the Year Award - Representative Lori Houghton
"Representative Lori Houghton has been a steadfast voice for steady, pragmatic and impactful improvements to Vermont’s health care system. She has championed legislation to improve access to telehealth services, licensure flexibilities during the pandemic to legislation this session requiring payment parity for both audio and video telehealth services. As chair of the Health Care Committee this session, she committed to addressing administrative burdens overwhelming health care practices and made H. 766 a priority for the committee."
